GUIDELINES FOR
CONTRIBUTORS
Conditions of acceptance
for submissions to Point
All submissions will be refereed by a member of the Editorial Board, the
Issue Editor and where appropriate by invited referees.
Submitted papers must not have been published elsewhere in the UK.
Submissions may be:
· accepted
· accepted subject to revisions by the author as requested by the
Issue Editor/Editor-in-Chief
· rejected
Form
Submitted papers must be supplied as follows:
· a copy of the material submitted on a new disk in MS Word 6 or
ASCII files. Please label the disk clearly with: Journal title; contributor's
name; title of article and file names; software used (name and version);
hardware used (IBM-compatible or Macintosh).
· a maximum of 5,000 words should be submitted together with an
abstract of 100-150 words and a biographical note of 50 words. Please
give the accurate wordcount of length of text
· in the first instance photocopies of photographs will be acceptable.
Disks will not normally be returned.
The disk must be accompanied by a hard copy showing, where appropriate,
the relationship of the images (with captions) to relevant sections of
text. The place at which an illustration is to be inserted in the printed
text should be indicated clearly on the manuscript with a figure number
and caption: eg. Insert figure 2 about here (add caption). A separate
numbered caption sheet should contain artists name, title, print, process,
date and owner. Illustrations should be on a separate sheet and not included
in the text.
Illustrations
If the submitted paper is accepted, original photographs/slides must be
provided of professional standard, carefully packed and labelled and accompanied
by an appropriately stamped, self-addressed envelope for return. The author
must confirm copyright clearance has been obtained in writing where the
work is other than his or her own. Individual photographs/slides should
be labelled with the author's name, and the reference number for the text.
It should be borne in mind that the journal is printed predominantly in
black and white, which may affect the quality of the reproduction of some
colour images. It is suggested that a minimum of 5 images be submitted
to allow the designer scope for selection of both to accompany the paper
and possibly for use on the front cover.
It is the author's
responsibility to ensure the references are accurate and that written
permission has been obtained for any reproduction of material other than
their own and that any such reproduction is fully credited.
The receipt of all contributions will be acknowledged but information
on selection will only be sent when all submissions have been considered.
POINT reserves the right to reject images of an inappropriate standard.
The Editor-in-Chief and/or the Issue Editor have/has authority to edit
and make reasonable alterations to the text following consultation with
the author.
Home and work telephone numbers, fax and e-mail addresses should be included.

Footnotes should be used sparingly and must be numbered and located at
the end of the essay. On final production the footnotes will be placed
