Research Questions

What are you doing?

Working with interactive immersive environments employing remote sensing technologies and large scale digital video projection systems as fine art.

How do you define it as research?

Firstly, in the sense that all creative practice is a form of research, but secondly (and perhaps more classically) it is defined as research as a lot of work has to be done keeping abreast of issues in remote sensing technolgies and related subjects (Human Computer Interaction, Pattern Recognition, etc) and also new software tools are constantly having to be developed and tested.

How did you get started?

Working as an Artist Research Fellow with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Institute in Australia.

Who are you working/collaborating with?

Engineers, composers and choreographers at an international level on a project by project basis.

Are there any outcomes already in the public domain, eg published papers,

Numerous exhibitions, catalogues, books, conferences and symposia.

Who knows about your work?

Internationally recognised within the media arts, digital arts and experimental arts communities. Work also known through mainstream press such as The Times, Guardian and many other papers, internationally, which have reviewed the work several times. Also through various TV documentaries on diverse channels in several countries, etc.

Close relationship with all faculty expected to be research active. All faculty can apply for research time.
